Jenkintown Festival of the Arts on Sunday was a great success. Won the Grand Prize for my artwork, sold some prints of my originals and made many new friends&contacts. I am amazed and heartened at the tremendous response people had to my art. When that many people spend 15-20 minutes looking at an original with such wonderful compliments, I've succeeded at the delivery end of things; half the ticket is being able to make the art and the other half is impacting people's minds in such a way.

Doing a lot of drawing lately, much of it from natural items that inspire me. End of summer is
perfect this year for stunning mushrooms, other fungi. Hiked part of the Susquehanna River trail today with fellow studio artist Mike Witmer, who hunts edible mushrooms. Picking up some frogs to temporarily keep and draw, in a 2gal. tank. Think I'll grab one of those mouse-sized grasshoppers while I'm at it, could find a place for it on a sketch page. Working on two major paintings that I would like to finish by Christmas. I'll have a booth at the Jenkintown Art Festival www.Jenkintonfest.org/art on Sunday, Sept. 18 from 1-6pm.

Here is my newest small painting, "Popped Balloon and Summer Payload".

3.25"x4.75", oil on panel. It features a dried plum, spent rose-of-sharon bloom

on a popped white balloon skin, accompanied by blue plastic objects, evergreen

needles. $850 with gold leaf stepped frame.

The weekend has been good to me. I was awarded a First Prize for my painting

"Heart of the Glen" at the Lancaster County Art Assoc. National Juried show.

My friends Tim&Debbie McCabe came from North NJ to attend today's opening,

took me out to dinner and hung out with me at the studio afterward. Their

response, and the people at the opening, was awesome and uplifting.

You must see Jeff Geib's and Bob Andriulli's two-man show over at Isadore Gallery,
228 N. Prince St. in Lancaster Pa. Their drawings of landscape and still-life give us one of the best shows this city has had in many years. Opening was First Friday this June, runs for roughly a month. www.isadore-gallery.com . I have the pleasure of sharing a studio suite with
Jeff, and have watched him make many of his fine originals.

"Under the Wiffle Ball Arc"

New small oil painting, "Under the Wiffle Ball Arc", 3.75"x5.25", 2010, $850.

The view is outdoors, from under a plexiglass panel, looking up at a section of broken wiffle ball, interlaced with a dried Rose-of-Sharon flower, deflated balloon, crumpled cigarette and various tiny beetles and river flies.

My 2008 oil painting "Heart of the Glen" was recently accepted into Lancaster County Art Association's 2010 National Juried Exhibition. The opening reception Sunday, June 13, from 1-5pm. The show will be up until July 22nd.

Sold "Seed Pod and Peppers" at Red Raven Gallery this month, which had won Best in Show at Prallsville Mills annual show in February, Stockton NJ. Just returned from a trip to South Florida and have great new ideas for paintings. Love those Sabal palms, epiphitic cacti and Key cacti.

Welcome to my new blog page, where you can read and see updates of
artowork, exhibits, museum lectures and other events. Many of you have suggested that I set one of these up, so I have finally done it.

I currently have artwork on display at Isadore Gallery in Lancaster, and a new painting up at Lancaster Museum of Art Annual Open - June 5th thru July 26th.

Soon I'll post photos of my new studio space at the Keppel Building as well as what I'm working on currently. I've got a whole new body of work on the horizon, and a major new painting well under way, to kick it off.
